A Healthy Back-to-School Season Starts With Your DSD Pharmacy
This time of year is filled with preparations for the upcoming school year. As the summer ends, you’ll be soaking up your last vacation days with the kids and getting them ready to excel in school. One item you won’t see on the list is the health and wellness of returning students. Your DSD Pharmacy is here to help parents and kids to stay healthy year-round.
Kids’ Health & Wellness
A healthy new year requires a stop at DSD Pharmacy for all your over-the-counter medications and vitamins. For a healthy start to the school year, consider picking up:
Multivitamins – The foods we eat do not give adequate vitamins and minerals to support growth and development. Multivitamins are a great way to supplement the body’s necessary nutrients.
Vitamin C – Germs abound at school; help protect your kids’ immune system.
Elderberry – Available in syrup and kid-friendly gummy form, elderberry helps reduce the duration of colds.
First aid kit– Be ready for any scrapes and cuts. Check your first aid kit to see what items need to be restocked with a trip to your DSD Pharmacy.
Probiotics – Promote gut health that will help keep the stomach bugs away.
Stop by the pharmacy counter for assistance from a DSD Pharmacy pharmacist for more items to add to your back-to-school health and wellness shopping list.
Continued COVID Awareness
As we learn more about COVID, we have new and proactive ways of eliminating exposure and spreading. Recently, the FDA approved Novavax, which uses a different technology than previously available COVID-19 vaccines. This beneficial two-dose vaccine is best suited for patients 18 and older for health and safety precautions. DSD Pharmacy will notify you as soon as this vaccine is available!
If you need a COVID vaccine or a booster shot, our DSD Pharmacy pharmacists still administer vaccines by appointment. We offer at-home test kits for anyone experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. If you test positive, the CDC has provided a Quarantine and Isolation Interactive Tool with guidelines for mask use, quarantine procedures, and any other regulations regarding your exposure.
August is National Immunization Awareness Month

“This annual observance highlights the importance of getting recommended vaccines throughout your life,” states Christina Howerton, Manager/Marketing and New Media at National Health Council.
Your DSD Pharmacy pharmacist can discuss the CDC Child Vaccine Schedule with you to help bridge the health gap with missing immunizations. Vaccine-preventable diseases include:
Meningitis
Diphtheria
Tetanus
Measles
Mumps
Rubella
Adults also require vaccinations to keep themselves and their families healthy. As we head into another flu season, consult your DSD Pharmacy pharmacist regarding any adult vaccinations you still need. With limited appointments with your primary care doctor, we understand the complications of staying current on your vaccinations. Don’t wait for an immunization that your DSD Pharmacy pharmacist can administer. Visit us today for an adult vaccination consultation!
